Recreating Falling Water in gingerbread

For a team-building activity for our 2022 Holiday Party, my UX team at Blue Cross NC and I had a gingerbread building contest. My entry was a (very overly ambitious) take on Falling Water by Frank Lloyd Wright. Here are some photos from the process, beginning to end. It looks a little janky, but I mostly had fun. Except when I sliced my thumb open with an Xacto knife. Public service announcement: Do NOT try to cut gingerbread with an Xacto knife.

Special thanks to my wife Annette! She helped me get all the stuff and indulged my 2-day obsession project without inflicting any other Xacto stabbings. All of the really cool details are hers - the trees. The wreath. And to be fair, literally everything about this was her idea. She’s the one that recommended that we do a gingerbread contest.
